Be Creative & Express Yourself

Photobucket

Summer reading activities have begun! Children visited the library on Tuesday for a watercolor tropical fish painting and a snack.

On Wednesday we had PJ Story time with Mrs. Blue and special guest, Mrs. Rinella, who brought her guitar for sing-along fun.

Here are some pictures of the kids planning and executing their "graffiti." -

Thursday was the day teens learned about graffiti style art and applied their creative skills to the sidewalks of downtown Marion. While the theme Urban Art might be a stretch for our quaint, little village... um... well, you get the idea! After the fun we cooled off and celebrated our artistry with rootbeer floats in the community room. Before the rains comes again, I hope you get a chance to see the kids' work.

Friday was a great day to hang out, munch popcorn, and watch Happy Feet.

Thank You to M&T Bank

Tracy Whitney, Kim Jackson from M&T, and Mr. Tasber's 2nd grade class

The library would like to thank M&T bank for their generous contribution of $500 to our summer reading program. Because of this we are able to offer more programs than ever! We're offering craft-n-snack days, story times, activities for middle-schoolers, movies days and a book club. Plus, there will be a magical guest in August with some tricks up his sleeve...

Thank you, M&T Bank!

Hunt For Golden Paint Brushes

Summer Reading sign-ups begin tomorrow, June 24 and continue through July 2. This summer we are offering 2 programs:

BE CREATIVE, for kids Pre-K - 4th grade
and
EXPRESS YOURSELF, for kids 5th grade and up

Children will receive a goody bag and a calendar of events. There will also be weekly prize drawings for patrons of all ages. All you have to do is visit the library to enter each week.

During the week of sign-ups kids are invited to hunt for golden paint brushes, which are hidden inside the library. Small prizes may be chosen by those lucky enough to find one. GOOD LUCK!

A special thank you goes to M & T bank, who has given the Marion Library a generous grant for our summer programs.
